Social distancing coupled with a sudden departure from familiar routines can be unsettling and anxiety-provoking. To help keep us focused on 1) people and things that matters most, 2) those situations we can actually control, and 3) anything that can generate some positivity right now, we can ask ourselves these 5 questions every day.
This form of appreciative inquiry has been a helpful, grounding exercise that has increased gratitude and shifted the perspectives of our Carisk team members, as we ask/answer these questions daily in our Family Meetings.
1. What am I grateful for today?
2. Did I get outside today?
3. Who will I meaningfully connect with today?
4. What beauty am I creating and/or appreciating today?
5. What am I doing to exercise today?
Just having the opportunity to ask these questions, let alone invest attention and energy towards these healthy thoughts and actions, can be considered a privilege … if we choose to see it that way.
